In August, the prices of cold-rolled sheet and coil in the domestic market rose first and then fell, with overall fluctuations. Looking at the individual market, the East China region saw mixed results, with a range of 10 to 20 yuan per ton.
The price in the central and southern regions dropped by 10 to 30 yuan per ton across the board. In the markets of North China, Northeast China, Southwest China and Northwest China, except for Urumqi which dropped by 50 yuan per ton, the rest of the markets rose steadily by 10 to 60 yuan per ton.
As of August 29th, the SteelHome (China) Steel Benchmark Price Index (SHSPI) stood at 87.48 points (3,784 yuan), up 2.51% from the previous month but down 0.84 points (36 yuan) from the end of last month. The cold-rolled coil price index (SHSPI-CR) stood at 66.38 points (4,034 yuan), up 3.91% from the previous month but down 0.13 points (8 yuan) from the end of last month.
On August 29th, the average price of 1.0mmSPCC cold coil in 28 major domestic cities was 3,971 yuan per ton, an increase of 2 yuan per ton compared with the end of last month. Among them, the prices of 1.0mm cold plates in the markets of Shanghai, Guangzhou and Tianjin are 3,880 yuan per ton, 3,900 yuan per ton and 3,850 yuan per ton respectively.
